Ardell E. Aason, age 55, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at Bottineau, North Dakota.

Ardell Eugene Aason, the son of Eugene and Marion (Hagen) Aason and stepson of Lester Larson, was born on April 3, 1953 in Bottineau, North Dakota. He grew up in Watertown, South Dakota graduating from Watertown High School in 1971. He obtained his degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University in 1975.

Ardell was united in marriage with Linda Urban on August 17, 1974 in Watertown, South Dakota. He was employed by Wold Engineering in Bottineau, North Dakota, Scott Engineering in Watertown then in 1982 started his own business, Aason Engineering in Watertown. He was a professional engineer and land surveyor.

Ardell had a deep abiding faith in God and his personal salvation was precious to him, that faith was a primary focus in his life. His dedication to his faith guided his daily life and led him to be a devoted husband, father, and doting grandfather.

Ardell drew great enjoyment from his love of his children and grandchildren. Ardell liked to share his ardent enthusiasm of the outdoors with children, friends and family, sharing the fellowship of many hunting and fishing trips with them. Ardell was very active in the community and involved with Christian education, his church, and several other boards and events.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Aason; his mother Marion Larson; and his father-in-law, Dean Urban.

Ardell is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Jarrad (Megan) Aason; Michael (special friend, Shannan), Chad (special friend, Lori) and Shelly Aason all of Watertown, SD; his stepfather, Lester (Arloa) Larson of Watertown; his siblings, Monica (Harlan) Barkley of Rockford, IL, Candice (Roger) Billings of Watertown, SD, and Carletta (Steve) Hauck of Watertown, SD; his sister-in-law, Diana (David) Ruotsala of Ironwood, MI; his brothers-in-law, Rick (Gail) Urban of Battleground, WA, Ronald (Tanya) Urban of Amboy, WA and Joel (Sue) Urban of Watertown, SD; and five grandchildren, Sydney, Sofia and Sawyer Aason, and Elizabeth and Annie Aason.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown with Pastor Gary Kangas presiding.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Pallbearers will be Jarrad Aason, Michael Aason, Chad Aason, Don Meyer, Steve Koistinen and Ron Weber.
