Born Joze Paes de Souza, October 238, 1874. Parents, Joze Luiz Paes de Souza and Christina de Figueiredo. His sister Maria (10 Aug 1872), brother Joze (13 Feb 1870-29 Mar 1874), and sister Adelaide (29 Sept 1876). I found birth/baptism records for him and his siblings, as well as the death record for the first son of Joze and Christina, named Joze (29 March 1874) and am looking for the death record for Christina (before 1886) and possibly Adelaide. The rumor is Joze (Joze/Joseph) his sister Maria (Maria/Mary) and their father made their way to the Azores, then to Hawaii, then to the San Francisco area (ending up in Morgan Hill). Sarah Quito was the 2nd wife of Joze.
Maria, was my great-grandmother. She married Antonio Joaquim Xavier (became Antonio Joaquin) and they lived in Morgan Hill. I am researching to dispel rumors and replace them with facts. Relatives can reach me at [email protected].
