Mildred M. Brown, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Trafalgar.

She was born May 27, 1913, in Morgan County. Her parents were Jacob J. and Mary M. (Castner) Sanders. She married William Edward Brown on Feb. 8, 1933, in Martinsville. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Alice M. Shaw of Franklin; a son, W. Austin Brown of Morgantown; a grandson and caretaker, Jeffery L. Brown of Trafalgar; five other grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Brown in 1986; a grandson, Gary Shaw in 1953; a great-great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Shaw in 1993; two brothers; and five sisters.

She farmed with her husband for many years and also worked at VanWinkle's V & V Regal Grocery in Morgantown and the Morgantown Laundromat during the 1970s.

She attended Nast Chapel Christian Church and Pleasant Grove Christian Church, both in Morgan County.

She enjoyed weaving rugs.

The Rev. John Sichting will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. today at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown. Burial will be at Centennial Cemetery in Morgan County.

Trafalgar resident Mildred M. Brown died Wednesday, November 27, at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was 89.

Born May 27, 1913, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of Jacob J. and Mary M. Castner Sanders. Both preceded her in death.

She married William Edward Brown in 1933. He also preceded her in death.

Ms. Brown helped her husband on the farm for many years. She worked at VanWinkle's V&V Regal Grocery in Morgantown and the Morgantown laundromat during the 1970s.

She had attended the Nast Chapel Christian Church and the Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Morgan County. Ms. Brown enjoyed weaving rugs.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice M. Shaw of Franklin; a son, W. Austin Brown of Morgantown; a grandson that took care of her and lived with her, Jeffery L. Brown of Trafalgar; five other grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
