Alfred J. "Pinky" Carey, 77, of South Charleston, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
He was a 1949 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and also attended WVU and Morris Harvey College. He was former owner/operator of the Carey Systems Outdoor Advertising, Charleston, and was currently employed at Ticketmaster.

Pinky was a retired referee/official for the SSAC and WVIAC football and basketball with 30 years of service. He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict, where he served in the Air Police. Pinky was an avid golfer and animal lover.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred James Warren and Esther Carey; brothers, Walter and Charles.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; sons, Joe and wife, Kristin Carey, of Lawrenceville, Ga.,

Andy and wife, Wendy Carey, of Charleston; daughters, Kris and husband, Bret Childers, of Sarasota, Fla., Sandy and husband, Chuck Archard, of Orlando, Fla.; sister-in-law, Pat Carey of Charleston; nephews, George Carey of New Hampshire and Mike Carey of Charleston; stepchildren, Tim and wife, Leslie Bollinger, of Charleston, Terry and wife, Patty Bollinger, of South Charleston, Maria Dent of Charleston; grandchildren, Cody, Jordan, Reis, Arwen, Remy, Schaefer, Logan, Peyton, Annie, David, Ann Marie, Andrea, David, Jeff; and faithful companions, "Penny" and "Pup."

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with Dr. David E. Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
