The Bradenton native had lived in Bostwick since 1982, coming from Crawfordville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had worked as a postal worker and cabinet maker for many years. He was an avid fisherman and was of the Baptist denomination.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Beatrice G. Smith of Bostwick; son, James T. Smith of Fairview, Tenn.; daughter, Selina Cunningham of Fairview, Tenn.; two step sons, George "Peewee" Smith and Harry W. "Tiny" Smith, both of Bostwick; step daughter, Beverly Kirkland of Bostwick; sister, Eleanor Carlton of Crawfordville; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at Bostwick Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Weeks officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 3 Jun 2002.
