The Rev. Ennis L. Harper, 53, died suddenly Saturday at HCA Putnam Community Hospital.
A native of Echoles, W. Va., he had lived in Bostwick for the past year coming from Pineville, Ky. He had been a minister for 24 years, currently pastoring Bostwick Baptist Church where he had been for over a year. He had previously served as pastor of Riverside Baptist Church in Pineville, Ky. He also pastored Garden City Baptist Church in Jacksonville and Providence Village near Lake Butler.
He is survived by his wife, June Harper of Bostwick; three sons, Doyle Harper of Ringgold, Ga., Jimmy Harper of Jacksonville, Danny Harper of Providence, Fla.; his mother, Alice Harper of Orlando; two brothers, Roy Gene Harper of Cleveland, Ohio, Clyde Harper of Newport News, Va.; sister Zona Thompson of Clay Hill, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Bostwick Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Brooks, the Rev. Ron Thompson and the Rev. Walt Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery. Deacons of Bostwick Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka is in charge of arrangements. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 6 Mar 1992.)
