He was an illegitimate son of Emperor Napoléon of France and his mistress Louise Catherine Eléonore Denuelle de la Plaigne.


He was buried in a pauper's grave in the cemetery, marked with a black wooden cross, but his remains were later dug up to make room for others. He was reportedly reinterred in the same cemetery, his grave unmarked.
