Thomas Francis (Tommy) Trent, 79, of Bryant passed away Saturday, July 5, 2003. He was born March 8, 1924, at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. Mr. Trent was a musician, singer, and radio and television personality. His professional entertainment career began in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1942. In the early 1950s, Mr. Trent was a regular with the Louisiana Hayride, which broadcast from radio station KWKH in Shreveport Louisiana and featured Hank Williams, Slim Whitman, Jim Reeves, George Jones, Roy Acuff and many others.
Mr. Trent moved to Arkansas in 1952 and began a radio program KTHS radio. His entertainment was featured when KTHV television first went on the air in the late 1950s. He showcased Arkansas talent on his television program for many years. He also promoted and performed live entertainment throughout Arkansas and regular live shows known as The Tommy Trent Fun Barn. He later owned and operated The Shoppers News until his retirement.
He is survived by four sisters, one brother; six children, 11 grand children and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Wednesday, July 9, at Roller-Drummond Southwest Chapel. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
