James V. Hollister, 72, passed away Thursday. Jim was born in Wellsville, NY, and was a resident of North Syracuse for most of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren and friends fishing on Lake Ontario and hunting. Jim was formerly employed with Warren Bros. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church. His parents, Marion Jasper "MJ" and Mary Hollister, predeceased him. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Barbara Conroy; his sons, Jim (Carolyn) and Mike Hollister, both of Brewerton; his sister, Helen (Duff) Gerhardt; and his five grandchildren. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services will be 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church. Burial with military honors will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
