Arthur "Steve" Douglas


Steve Douglas, age 88 of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late Annie Winburn and was born March 22, 1933 in Point Peter, Georgia.

He graduated from Fernandina Beach high school in 1951 and served in the Army Signal Corps in Korea in 1953-1955 .

Mr. Douglas earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University in 1961 and retired as the Director of Engineering Public Works Naval Air Station Jacksonville in 1991.

He served on the board of deacons at Cedar Hills Baptist Church in Jacksonville Florida, and was most recently a member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church in Nassauville.


He was a devoted husband to Barbara Mobley Douglas for 65 years.


His first love was to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mr. Douglas' life was characterized by actions and expressions of grace. He loved to bless other people and he worked hard to provide those blessings.

His character and integrity was lived out on a daily basis for his children: Steven Douglas of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Karen Kruchten of Bradenton, Florida and Greg Douglas of Omaha Nebraska; daughters-in-law, Karen Rentz Douglas, Cindy Paulchak Douglas; and son-in-law Ken Kruchten , seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Springhill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM.

He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
