Walter Wesley Anschutz, Sr. age 75, of Breckenridge passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Walt was born on December 7, 1945 in Saginaw the son of Frank and Luella (Howard) Anschutz and was a lifelong member of the Breckenridge community, where his family owned and operated Anschutz Café from 1919 to 2010. He was married to Penny Welch, who preceded him in death. Walt was an incredibility hard working man his entire life. He worked at the restaurant and in the oil fields in his younger years and later owned and operated Walt's Excavating and Walt's Septic. He had a great love for all the people he met in his lifetime and riding his Harley motorcycle. He had a passion for railcars and trains and enjoyed collecting, to point of filling his basement with them. He was preceded in death by a son, Frank Anschutz; his parents; and a sister, Joy McCrory. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 1 pm at Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the COPD Foundation.
