We don't know a lot about Desemonthenes other than he was married to our great-grandmother, Nannie Hicks (maiden name) for just a few short years before his death. I do know that he was employed as a janitor at Oregon Agricultural College, and had 2 step-children, Nelson and Mildred (our grandmother) Leland.

His mother Henrietta was born in 1822 in Virginia.
