William Goble Tackett, Sr., 83, of Troutville, died Sunday, April 27, 2008. He was born on February 26, 1925 in Wales, Pike County, Kentucky and was preceded in death by three brothers, James Noble Tackett, Hiram Tackett, Hassell Eugene Tackett, and one sister, Elma Tackett Bryant. He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sena Potter Tackett; five sons and three daughters, William Goble Tackett, Jr. (Roberta), Donald Clifton Tackett, Sr. (Vickie), Mary Tackett Cox (Steve), Douglas Keith Tackett (Rhonda), Christopher Allen Tackett (Bobbie), Hiram Desmund Tackett (Sandra), Sena Tackett Skinner (Gregory), Sandra Tackett Kroft (Joel); 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leslie Mae Tackett and Janie Tackett. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 at Oakey's East Chapel with interment to follow at 3 p.m. in the Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville, Virginia, with Military Honors by the U. S. Army. The family will receive friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. both days, at Oakey's East Chapel, Bonsack, 540-977-3909.
