Rose M. Alley died in her home in Holton on Saturday morning, March 29, 1952, after an extended illness at the age of 53 years, 10 months and four days. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John P. McAsey.
She had spent her entire life in Jackson county and Holton community. She was united in marriage to Roger W. Beems, July 15, 1917, who proceded her in death, April 20, 1940.
For a number of years she was bookkeeper and cashier at the G.F. Kings Department Store.
Shortly after the death of her husband she kept house for her father and brother until she was united in marriage to Herbert Alley Feb. 7, 1948.
She is survived by her husband, four sisters, Mrs. John Flynn, Denver; Mrs. Grace Flynn, Mayetta; Mrs. Scott Kidney, Ottawa; Mrs. Cliff Lundstrom, Denver, and four brothers, Tim of Atchison, Matt, John and William, Holton, also five nieces and four nephews.
Her passing is mourned by a host of friends and neighbors.
She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Dominic’s Church her entire life. Her patience, kindness, humanity and friendliness were noted and appreciated by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held in St. Dominic’s Church, Holton on Tuesday, April 1, 1952 at 9:30 a.m.
The high requiem mass was celebrated by her pastor the Rev. Father Frank Glowacki, who in fitting words paid tribute to the truly Catholic life of this devoted member of her parish.
