Evans, GA - Mrs. Anita Taylor Geer, 93, died Monday, February 19, 2024 at her home at Brandon Wilde after a brief illness with her husband of 67 years, H. Calvin Geer, by her side. 

     A native of Arlington, Massachusetts she was born December 21, 1930 the daughter of the late Harry Symon Taylor and Ella Caroline Julie Volmar Taylor both first generation Americans. She was predeceased by her brother Harry Carl Taylor of Spruce Head, Maine.

Mrs. Geer earned the Gold Award as a Girl Scout, was an honor graduate of Arlington High School and received her B.S. in Chemistry from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She began her career as a chemical librarian at E. I. DuPont in 1952 before retiring to become a full-time homemaker and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Geer was a former member of the Augusta Choral Society.

      She was active in all phases of her children's lives and a constant helpmate to her husband. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Den mother, Room mother, and substitute librarian at National Hills Elementary School.  

      She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Augusta since 1953 where she was a member of the Thankful Sunday School class, First Family Singers, the Senior Handbell Choir and a volunteer in the preschool Sunday School for over two decades. She most recently sang with the Brandon Wilde Chorus.

      Mrs. Geer was also a family genealogist along with her sons Paul and Sam. She was a member of the Geer Family Association, the Callaway Family Association and the Augusta Genealogical Society. She was an avid coin and stamp collector while also enjoying gardening, especially her Rose Garden at her former home in National Hills. 

     In addition to her husband Mrs. Geer is survived by her four sons: Capt. David Calvin Geer, USN (ret) and daughter-in-law Kalynn Warbington Geer of Cumming, GA; James Fooshe Geer and Samuel Taylor Geer of Evans, GA and Paul Dudley Geer of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters and families: Mrs. Jennifer Geer Byers, husband Jonathan Killian Byers and great-grandson: Theodore Churchill Byers of Portsmouth, VA; Mrs. Christina Geer Wilson, husband W. David Wilson and great-granddaughters: Ella Louise Wilson and Millie Geer Wilson of Cumming, GA.

     A funeral service was conducted from the Storey Chapel of First Baptist Church Augusta, GA on Friday February 23, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Will Dyer officiated the service.

     Pallbearers were David Wilson, Jon Byers, Rev. David Roland, Jonathan Roland, Rev. Monty Watson, Rev. Charles Quarles, III. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Faithful Sunday School Class.

      In lieu of flowers remembrances are suggested to "Moving Our Mission Forward'' campaign at First Baptist Church Augusta, DiscoverFBC.org/MOMF , 3500 Walton Way Ext. Augusta, GA 30909.
