James Melvin Alfred, age 65 of Conroe, passed away Monday, February 13, 2024 at his residence in Conroe. He was born July 3, 1958 in Houston, Texas to Jesse Lawrence Alfred and Carolyn Jean Sellers Alfred.
Melvin is survived by wife of 13 years, Sherry Lynn Alfred of Conroe; children, Christal Amboree and Phil, Antasia Fowler, James Livingston and wife, Sharonda, Jason Harris and wife, Kristen, Reginald Lovelady, Roderick Lovelady; grandchildren, Courtney, Cyane, Aaliyah, Destinee, Silas, James, Jr., Elijah, Joey, Dylan, Jonah, Amaris, Hayden, Christian, Karter; sisters, Mae Smith and husband, John of Pennington, Connie Currie and husband, Clifford of Kennard, Kay Nelms and husband, Pete of Tyler; brother, Jason Alfred of Crockett; nieces and nephews, Chad and Emily Smith, Brad and Ashley Currie, Nicole and Jason Carter, Heather Currie, Brian and Alex Nelms, Megan Nelms, Ben Alfred; great-nieces and great-nephews, Claire, Lila, and Anna Carter, Lacey Currie, Parker and Peyton Smith, Thea and Sophia Nelms.

Funeral services for James Melvin Alfred will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Creek Cemetery. Family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
