Carl Scott Amos, 63, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on January 27, 2024. Carl was born on June 29, 1960, in Atlanta, Georgia to James Larry Amos and Elizabeth Annette Westmoreland. He grew up in Georgia and graduated from Social Circle High School in 1978. After graduating high school, Carl enlisted in the US Navy where he was a Petty Officer, 2nd class Electronics Technician. On December 18, 1981, he married Celeste Vittoria.

After he was honorably discharged in 1983, Carl worked for a variety of government contractors in Massachusetts and Rhode Island through 1989. From 1982 to 1985, Carl and Celeste welcomed two daughters into their family. In 1989, Carl and his family moved to Fernandina Beach when he accepted a position as an Instrument Mechanic at Trident Refit Facility, at Kings Bay Naval Base in Georgia. Carl and Celeste welcomed a third daughter in 1990. Carl was an Electronics Mechanic from 1993-1999 and promoted to Supervisor in 1999. From 2008 until his death, Carl worked as a Production Controller.

Carl was best known for sharing "Dad Jokes" on Facebook, and if he chose your joke to share, it was an honor. Carl was a great storyteller but a better listener. He was a loyal friend. If you needed help, Carl was there. Always with a kind word or a hug; no one was alone when Carl was around. As a father, he raised three confident, intelligent women. Carl not only taught them invaluable life skills, but also how to have fun. He was so proud that they each graduated from college, because he never had.

Carl loved being a Freemason. He was raised on July 5, 1994. He was Worshipful Master in 1999 and 2019 of Amelia Lodge #47, District Deputy Grand Master in 2003-2004, District Deputy Grand Master of the York Rite – Crusader 44, and Master of the York Rite Council Athelstan #46. Carl was also a member of the York Rite Chapter #49 and a Shriner.

Carl's passion was riding his motorcycle. He joined the Masonic Widows Sons motorcycle organization, Templars, in 2014. He served as Road Captain for almost 7 years. Carl was a founding member and current President of the BOAZ Chapter of the Widows Sons of Northern Florida.

Carl is predeceased by his father, Dr. J. Larry Amos. Carl leaves behind his wife, Celeste, of 43 years, of Fernandina Beach; three daughters, Melissa (Dustin) Wilson, of Broken Arrow, OK, Lauren Amos, of Bristol, RI, and Sara (Nicholas) de Kock of Jacksonville, FL; his mother, Elizabeth Annette Amos, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; two brothers, Warren (Donna) Amos and Dennis Amos, of Social Circle, GA, and a sister, Laura (Scott) Flegal of Rossville, GA; as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

The family will receive friends at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Monday, February 5th, from 5-7pm. The Rosary will be recited at 6pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 6th, at 11am, in Maxwell Hall at Memorial United Methodist Church. A memorial Mass will said for Carl at St Michael's Catholic Church on Thursday, February 8tth at 12:30pm. Luncheon receptions will follow both.
