God's House Ministry. Josephine attended Kashmere High School in H.I.S.D and graduated in
1969. She attended and graduated from Prairie View A & M University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1973. She then received her Master of Education in 1979. Josephine was employed for 37 years in public education. She worked in North Forest Independent School District and later in Aldine Independent School District until she retired in May of 2011. Through the years, those who knew her loved her, that is evident from the outpouring of love during this difficult time. She will forever live on in the hearts of her friends and family. She loved to go to see the newest movies on their release date, Friday. She was an active member of National Organization of Negro Women – Houston Metropolitan Area where she served as Treasurer and participated in many charitable and social events. Josephine was a true woman of God; she loved the Lord. Josi ascended to the Heavens to be with our Lord on February 1, 2023. She fought a good fight. God knew she was ready. Josi was proceeded in death by her grandparents Alberta Ridley (Mother Dear), Marion and Mattie Smith Sr. Her loving Uncles and Aunts; Emily Smith Joseph, Hattie Smith Stewart, Calvin Armstead, Marion Smith and Carey and Ida Hawkins. Josi leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, her sisters, Myosha Kim Watkins, Iletta Colette Watkins, Nephew and Niece-Traven Watkins and Myosha (Myco) Coleman. Adopted Son Timothy M. Watkins, Stepmother Dorothy Watkins. Josi was lovingly known as Nana to James Hawkins, Kimberly Council, Aaron Hawkins, and Kirstin Williams. She also leaves to cherish her memories, Willie Hawkins, Keith Hawkins, Carey Hawkins Jr. (who preceded her in death) and Sandra
Hawkins-Beal, although they did not share birth parents, they shared the same level of love as siblings.
