Diane Kay Bennett
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Rodney L. Bennett and Doris "Dee" Gibbs Bennett. She is survived by her sisters Sharon Dixon (Dan) and Julie Coleman (Mark); nieces Raquel Rodriguez (Frank), Jaimee Johanning (JJ), Kelsey Noble (Matt), nephews Daryl Coleman (Caitlin), Brian Coleman (Christina); 4 great nephews and 6 great nieces.

Diane was born and lived her life in Omaha. She was a very pretty and happy little girl. She graduated from Westside High School in 1970. It was there that she found that she was good with numbers, and she worked for years as a cashier at UNMC.

Diane was an active community volunteer, both for the Crisis Prevention Line, as well as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). She loved family gatherings and even as her health declined in later years, she never failed to ask how she could be of help.

In her youth, Diane developed her love of hockey by attending Omaha Knights games with her friends and family. For 24 years she faithfully watched & called in the final score to sportscaster Dave Webber at WOWT.

Diane loved music, especially Lady Antebellum, attending every concert they had in Omaha, as well as the acapella group Home Free, whom she saw perform live both in Omaha and Lincoln.

Our family is grateful for the love and care Diane received by so many at her home at St. Joseph Villa. Despite a lifetime of health challenges and adversities, Diane kept a good sense of humor and loved to joke with her caregivers. She will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral Service 4:00 PM Thursday (12/21/23) at Roeder Mortuary with Visitation 5 - 6 PM at Roeder Mortuary .

Cremation has taken place. Ashes will be interred at a later date next to her paternal grandparents.
