The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Beaver Island Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Gann was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Military Police, was a member of Beaver Island Baptist Church, and retired from the ministry after pastoring for 35 years. The Rev. Gann's radio ministry with station WMYN covered a period of 38 years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary "Rosa" Rhodes Gann of the home; sons, Wendell Gann and wife, June of Mayodan, Ronald Gann and wife, Patricia of Stoneville; daughters, Shelby Handy and husband, Larry of Hays, Carol Duggins and husband, Taylor of Denver; brother, Paul Gann; sisters, Hazel Gray, Doris Bokoski, Frances Kallam and Neva Price, all of Mayodan; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Colonial Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
