Richard Paul Wertz, 81, peacefully passed away at home on October 19, 2023 at his home in Rigby, Idaho.
He was born on February 22, 1942 in Taylor, Michigan to Richard Charles Wertz and Alverda Sibol Bullock Wertz.
Richard honorably served our Country in the United States Marines from 1955-1957.

Richard married the love of his life, Delores Fore on October 26, 1971 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
During his life, Richard worked as a firefighter in Menan, Idaho; Twin Butte Lumber; in Maintenance for the City of Menan; and as a bus driver for Jefferson School District 251.

Richard was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; a member of the Lions Club; the VFW and the National Federation of the Blind. Richard loved working on genealogy and playing cards.

He is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Delores; his parents, Tarisa Wertz, and one brother, Louis Wertz.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Michele (Kevin) Smuin of Rigby, ID, sons, Richard Paul Wertz II of Lyman, WY, and Thane Wertz of Rigby, ID, sister, Anita Watson of Taylor, MI, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
