Kamink, Dirk – suddenly at Quinte Health – Belleville General Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in his 78thyear. Beloved spouse of Marjorie Fisher of Belleville. Loving father of Mark (Liz), Isaac (Zoya), Denver (Pamela) and stepfather of Michael Fisher and Catherine (Rob) Fisher Andrews. Proud grandfather of Jessica, Deacon, Samantha, Loden, Ruby, Rhiannon, Gordie and Gabe and Great grandfather to Julian. Dirk is survived by his sister, Dini Kempanaar and his brothers, Herman (Violet), Ben (Julia) and Bill (Dena) Kamink. He is also remembered by the mother of his children, Lynne Kamink-Buell. He is predeceased by his parents Derk and Hendrika Kamink, his brother John Kamink and his sister Grada Kamink.
Dirk was born in Aalten in the Netherlands and after immigrating to Canada in 1955, he lived his entire life in Prince Edward County, a place with which he had a deep connection. Dirk spent nearly forty years working in quality control at Pre-Con. He was very proud of the contributions he was able to make to the infrastructure of the Quinte region, the province of Ontario and internationally. He was an avid member of the Marantha Church community. His greatest loves were his family, outdoor recreations and his many gardening projects.
A Memorial Service will be held at Maranatha Church on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel (613-968-2273).
