Obituary for Jonathan David Rouse
On Thursday, September 7, 2023 Jonathan David Rouse, loving son, brother to 3 sisters, uncle to 9 nieces and nephews and friend to many went to meet Jesus at the age of 39..
Jonathan was born on June 8, 1984 in northern Wisconsin to Theodore and Doreen Rouse. Jonathan grew up in the Milwaukee area and his early life is remembered by friends and family as playing in numerous bands, recording albums, skateboarding, helping in youth ministry, always being a fun person and making people laugh with his naturally silly personality. He was a competitive scrabble player, a stylish uncle who loved his nieces and nephews and he always loved shopping. His excuse was always "Hey, I grew up with three sisters. What do you expect?"
In Jonathan's thirties, he felt the call of God to ministry in which he co-founded Revival MKE with his sister, Jennifer. Revival MKE's main purpose was to stir the hunger for God in the hearts of believers. Their motto was "Empowering Christians to live lives led and full of the Holy Spirit." Revival MKE drew in hundreds of people of all ages that were desiring to know the power of the presence of God. Soon after, Jonathan was inspired by videos he was watching on YouTube to start going out on the streets and praying with people who were sick or in pain and leading them to Jesus. He called on other Christians to join him in this effort, which he called "Wake My City." Many hundreds of people were touched by his obedience to love people both within the church and outside the church. He will always be remembered for his passion for Jesus and people.
Jonathan is preceded in death by his father, Theodore and his mother, Doreen. Jonathan is survived by his sisters, Julie (Jeffrey), Jennifer (Clayton) and Joanna (Joshua), his nephews Ethan, Wesley, Ashtyn, Jude, and Wyatt, his nieces, Jada, Leila, Charlie and Liv. He was loved by grandparents, dozens of cousins and aunts and uncles that have both preceded his passing and survived him.
There will be a celebration of life service for Jonathan at Passion Church in Hales Corners, Wisconsin on Wednesday September 27, 2023 at 6:00pm.
There will be a private burial service for the family in Calumet, Michigan where he will be buried with his parents.
