Sgt. Michael T. Lilly, 23, of Boise, died Monday, April 7, 2008 while in Iraq, defending our freedom. Michael was born May 31, 1984 in Boise, Idaho. As a small child Michael was joyful and kind hearted. He loved playing outside with his brothers Jeff and Brennen and his sister, Kristin. Being out in the sunshine and fresh air is what always pleased him most, especially when he could fashion a ramp with his neighborhood friends and older brother and ride his bicycle over it as fast as he could. The family cabin at Warm Lake was his favorite place to go with his father, John, mother, Vicky and his siblings. He spent hours upon hours hiking and exploring; pretending he was a soldier or a mighty hunter. He had a wonderful imagination and wrote amazing, creative stories. He was a loving, affectionate child who was always ready with hugs and kisses. During grade school he wrestled, was a member of Cub Scouts and a backyard football star. He also studied piano with his grandma Catherine. He spent many wonderful times with his grandma Rose throughout his childhood. Among many other things she taught him how to golf. He spent numerous hours with her along with his Grandpa Rod who took him to junior boxing lessons. During Junior High he was a Boy Scout for a short time before moving on to his other great interests, computers and cars. Recently, Michael had developed a love for gourmet cooking. He loved heavy metal music and had tried to learn to play guitar with his older cousin Jason. Sometimes the amplifier was deafening but it always eventually sounded like music. As he grew older his step father, Ken, and his uncle, Rod, taught him to hunt. They spent many hours hunting and fishing together. In High School he took networking courses and as many computer related courses that were available and was truly talented. As he got older, he met the love of his life, Miseda Mazile while attending Borah High School and working at a Dairy Queen during his junior year. He graduated from Borah High School in 2002. Michael had always wanted to serve our country as a soldier in the United States Army. Spurred by the attacks of Sept. 11 the year before, Michael enlisted during the summer of 2002 and attended Basic Training and Infantry Training at Fort Benning, Ga. Upon his return to Boise from Fort Benning, he was assigned to Fort Lewis Wash., where he was sent to South Korea to serve for a year. Upon his return he became engaged to Miseda. Before his first deployment to Iraq, Michael and Miseda wed on July 9, 2004 at Whitney Baptist Church. They returned to Fort Lewis Wash., and then were transferred to Vilsek, Germany. He was deployed to Iraq for a second time in Aug. 2007. Michael is survived by his wife, Miseda M. Michael High and Sgt. Audwin Wright. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Rositane and Maccelo Mazile; sisters-in-law, Gertine Wood, Francesca Mazile, Nerobie Mazile, Emmanuella Mazile, Marantha Mazile.
