Geneva Muriel Shaw was born to John Alton "Pete" Shaw and Mary Valentine "Vollie" Tucker in Trigg County, Kentucky.
(Her paternal grandparents were Thomas J. Shaw and Cora "Ann" Ross. Her maternal grandparents were William C. Tucker and Julia Belle McCauley.)

Her mother died when she was six, and she and her sister were raised by their Grandmother Shaw and Aunt Hazel Shaw between the rivers(present day "Land between the lakes")

Geneva married Tom Jones on May 11, 1935. They had 13 children; Henry, Gaylon, James, Paul, Christy, Dan, Ann, Robert, John T, William, Pamela, Bruce and Joyce.
Johnie(1951) and Joyce(1953) died as infants and are buried next to each other at Powell cemetery. Five sons were in the military and three served in Vietnam.

After her youngest children started school, Geneva worked as a cook at South Christian Elementary until she retired in the early 1980's. She was a member of Little River Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

Geneva was a quilter, a Granny-on-the-go, and fun to be with until her last days here. She was the finest of women.
