In Loving Memory of Helen Alene (Toots) Watson Wright Cross

September 23, 1931 - August 4, 2023

Helen Alene Watson Wright Cross, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great, great grandmother, and cherished member of the Moberly community, passed away, August 4, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born, September 23, 1931, in New Cambria, Missouri, to the late John Logan and Maude Caroline (Clarke) Watson.

Helen's legacy will forever be cherished by her children: Pamela Raye Ugolini, Michael Ryan Wright (Donna), Terri Wright Henderson, Tony Cross (Dawn), Tracy Cross (Claire), and Gayla Rae Cross. She was a loving and proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Raymie Wright, her husband Lloyd, her son Christopher Eugene Wright, and daughter Joanie Rochelle Cobb. Helen's warm presence and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of her family.

Helen's journey through life was marked by her dedication and passion for her work. She was a skilled bartender, and together with her first husband, Raymie (Rainbo) Wright, owned and operated the 'Victory Bar & Steak House.' Her commitment to her craft and her patrons earned her a special place in the hearts of those she served.

She married Lloyd (Swifty) Cross in 1977 and had a loving marriage of 41 years that took them to various places including Sedalia, Florida, and Las Vegas, eventually settling back in Moberly. Throughout her adventures, her unwavering love for her family remained constant. Helen's family was the heart of her world, and her legacy of love and devotion will forever be felt by those fortunate enough to know her.

Beyond her love for family, Helen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She adored her dogs, found solace in reading, delighted in tending to her garden's blossoms, and shared moments of laughter while watching westerns with her children.

Helen Alene Watson Wright Cross touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

"Though her smile is gone forever and her hand we cannot touch, we still have so many memories of the one we loved so much".

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Helen's honor to the Moberly Animal Shelter and for the ongoing care of her two beloved dogs she leaves behind, Sophia and Lucy.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation to be held Tuesday August 8, 2023, 2 pm - 3pm in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel followed by Funeral Services honoring Helen's life at 3 pm. Committal prayer and burial will take place at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Moberly.
