Casparus Lant bought land from William Reid Esq. lot 45. His daughter Anna Maria Lant married Alex Reid, father of Catherine Reid, she the mother of Sarah McNeil Peck. His parents were Laurentz Landt and Christina Schult. His brother is William Lant who is also in this cemetery.
His first wife was Lyntie Herder who died in 1800 before the South Argyle cemetery was ready so she is buried in the Watson-McNeil Rd cemetery.
His parents were Lawrentz Landt 1732-1798 and Christina Schult 1736-1898.

Century Farm,
The first record of the name Lant
in Argyle is in 1796. Casparus Lant
and his brother William of Claverack
Columbia county, bought lot 45 of the
Argyle patent. 2fS p r e s . They divided
the land by deeds recorded in Hudson
Fails. Tne deeds are dated in 1790.
William retained the south half of
the lot and lived where Leland Saunders
now lives.
W ilham Lant had two sons. The
younger, Henry G. Lant (1806-1874).
married Elizabeth (Betsey) Bain (1805-
1880). On March 29. 1855 Henry G.
Lant bought of the heirs of Thomas
Roberson 166 acres of lot 49 in the
Argyle patent along the shore of Cossayuna
Lake
Henrv G. and Betsey reared four
children. The youngest Hugh James
Lant 1846-1888 inheritie the farm. He
married Mary J McDougall 1854-1909.
She was the daughter of John I McDougall
and Martha McMillin. After their death the
Property was managed by their daughter
Mable Lant b.1877 who married George
Kincaid.
Cossayuna Lake has become a popular
vacation resort and the lake shore
and the hotel at Kincaids have developed
while the farm has become
less important. Since the death of his
wife. George Kincaid has continued
to operate the business. The Kincaids
had no children but Harold Lant of
Greenwich, a nephew of Mable Lant
Kincaid and a great grandson of the
original owner Henry G Lant has sons
to carry on the name.
