Lori A. Fischer, 61, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of Samuel J. Fischer. On November 18th, they celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary.

Born in Frackville on March 31, 1962, she was the daughter of Roy and Shirley Lowthert Mengel of Frackville. Lori will be remembered for her beautiful smile, positive attitude, and friendly disposition. She found great joy in being a parent and spending time with her family and friends. Her love and selflessness extended to her church, The Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church, where she dedicated her time to helping with children's and women's ministries. Lori's faith in Jesus was a guiding light throughout her life and especially during her last year's battle with B-Cell Lymphoma.

Lori began her career as a teacher in 1991 at Lower Dauphin School District, where she taught for 20 years. She took a break from teaching to raise her boys and work in Children's Ministry at her church. Part of her ministry was her support of the American Foundation for Children with AIDS. As part of this organization, Lori teamed up with a group of 14 women who raised money and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. After her boys entered elementary school, Lori returned to Lower Dauphin as a 7th grade science teacher, but she still remained involved in the Children's Ministry as a volunteer. Prior to her marriage and career as a teacher, Lori worked as a Research Technician at The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

In her free time, Lori enjoyed exploring new places, knitting, board games, bird watching, taking pictures, camping, listening to music, participating in Bible study, and most of all, spending quality time with her family and friends. Her hobbies brought her joy and enriched her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she is survived by her sons Caleb J. Fischer and Seth J. Fischer both of Fredericksburg; stepson Matt (Jimmy Moonwalker) Fischer of Fredericksburg; and sister Lisa M. wife of Mike J. Dower of Wyomissing.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church, 600 Shepherd St., Jonestown. Visitation with the family will follow the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at the Odd Fellow's Cemetery in Frackville.
