BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Roy Verden Legg, 64, born Feb. 20, 1943, departed this life unexpectedly on June 4, 2007.
Verden lived in the Wildcat section and had been employed by Adams Construction, Legg Ford and Horizon Homes.
He was an avid outdoorsman, where he loved to hunt and fish. Loved by all who knew him, he was kindhearted, straightforward, and loved to tell stories. He enjoyed all his friends at the Hardee's "Coffee Club" each morning.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Robin Collier Legg; and his father, Morgan Legg, Sr.
Verden is survived by his mother, Lillian Legg of Big Stone Gap; four daughters, Lynn (Jeff) Grubb and Janett Lynn Davis of Salisbury, N.C., Ginger Legg Tipton of Gate City, and Nikki L. Legg of Big Stone Gap, Va.; two brothers, Jerry D. Legg of Duffield, Va. and Morgan Legg, Jr. of Big Stone Gap, Va.; two sisters, Lesia (Gene) Estep and Myra (Philip) Puleo, both of Big Stone Gap, Va.; three step-children, Sherri Gosling of Australia, Jon Grimes of West Richland, Wash., Sabrina Mink of Big Stone Gap, Va.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Gilley and Evangelist "Buddy" Wilson officiating. Verden requested cremation following services.
