Estelle S. Sheppard, Widow Of Athlete
North Wildwood - Estelle S Sheppard, 77, of 107 E. 18th Ave., died Friday at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Sheppard was a resident of this community for the past 20 years, and was the wife of the late Melvin W. Sheppard, who won three gold medals in the 1908 Olympics in London and also competed in the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Adelaide Kohler of North Wildwood; a son, Melvin W. Sheppard Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Edith Cole of Wildwood, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at a Wildwood funeral home, the Rev. J. Francis Peake, officiating. Burial will be in the Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery, Cold Spring.
