Steven Martin Alderson, age 69, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, passed peacefully away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Center in Howard, SD.

There will be a Memorial visitation on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD. Steven will be laid to rest at the Bridgewater Cemetery at a later date.

Steven Martin Alderson was born July 12, 1953 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to John William and Dorothy (Henken) Alderson. Steven was raised and received his education in Sioux Falls attending Washington High School.

Steven was united in marriage with Carol Torkelson on December 28, 1979 in Sioux Falls, SD and were blessed with one daughter, Devin Marie Alderson.

Steven worked as a delivery truck driver in the State of South Dakota until his retirement due to ill-health. He then continued to work for good friend, Dave Grevlos. You could find him at the Shopping Cart on 10th with his good friend, Jo. Steve also worked at the car wash on 10th and also on Cleveland.

Steve had the love of cars. Steves favorite cars were his 1970 Chevelle and 1972 Vega. You could find Steve at car shows taking pictures of all the cars, going to races and Saturday Motor Madness car show in the Hardee's parking lot and Z'Kota Grille. Steve has albums and albums of pictures of all kinds of cars. His favorite music was Guns and Roses.

You could always spot Steve with his dog, Vinny. Steve would be on his scooter and Vinny walking beside him. They were a Trusty pair of friends for 13 years.

Steve was also known as Mr. Belvedere as he lived with John and Connie Grode and family for a few years and he would help out around the house and with the kids.

John and Connie Grode, special niece Alex Grode and special nephews Chad and Brian Grode became his adopted family and helped him out as needed. He also employed those kids to help him mow lawns and do snow removal. Lots of fun times and memories.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Devin Marie Alderson, former wife, Carol Alderson, Howard, sister-in-laws, Donna Tompkins, Connie (John) Grode, Sioux Falls, Jane (Larry) Terwilliger, Winfred, Tami (Perry) Burmeister, Huron, SD; brother-in-laws, Roger (Jan) Torkelson, Howard, SD; brother-in-law, Daniel Beimert, Shakopee, MN; nieces and nephews: Trisha (Tom) Mankowski, Danielle (David) Mudd, Kelly Doolittle.and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded by his parents, John and Dorothy Alderson; sister, Linda Beimert; and Aunt Ruth Alderson, In-laws, Donald and Frances Torkelson, Brother in laws, Tom Tompkins, Vern Torkelson and Rod Lorenz, Ace(Ron) Johnson and his trusted buddy, Vinnie German Shepherd.
