United States Congressman. A member of the Democratic Party, he served Arkansas's 1st Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from 1997 until 2011. After attaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Arkansas, worked as a farmer and pharmacist. He became interested in politics and served on the city council in Gillett, Arkansas from 1976 until 1980 and later, on the Arkansas Soil & Water Conservation Commission. During the Clinton Administration, Berry served as an advisor for Agricultural Trade & Food Assistance. He succeeded Blanche Lincoln for the United States House of Representatives when she became Senator from Arkansas. During his tenure, he served on the House Committee on Appropriations and the subcommittees on Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs.
