McMillan, Arb W. (Turtle) age 89 of Strawberry Plains was born to Robert and Dora McMillan on February 16, 1919. Our beloved husband, Daddy, Papaw and Great Papaw Mac passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at home. He was a charter member and builder of Bethel Baptist Church, member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and attended Marbledale Baptist Church.

He served in the US Army during World War II serving in the Sicilian, Normandy, Northern France, Ardenned, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with six bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and the Belgium Fourragere. He retired from Ideal Cement Company in 1981 after 35 years service.

He was preceded in death by parents; five brothers; great granddaughter Kaitlyn Kirkland and son in law, Freddie Lee.

Survivors: wife, Mary Ann (Mert) Browning McMillan; daughters and sons in law, Dorothy and Charles Clifton, Becky and Gary Loy, Robin and Wayne Johnson; sons and daughters in law, Terry and Robbi McMillan, Mike and Angie McMillan; grandchildren, Chucky and Dale Clifton, Brad Clifton, Tim Clifton, Teresa and Todd Hutchins, Jennifer and Todd Daniel, Christy and Tony Kirkland, Mary and Todd Powell, Scott, Eric and Tracy McMillan, Michael and Jennifer Johnson, Amanda Johnson; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Mae McMillan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be at 7:00 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Chorn, Rev. Danny Neal and Rev. Terry McMillan officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Union Cemetery on Union School Road for the interment at 11:00 A.M. with Military Honors by East Tennessee Veteran Honor Guard. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Diane, Florence, Mertie, Frances and the staff of UT Hospice.
