Abrams Cornelius was born in Noble County, Aug. 21, 1851, and died March 21, 1923, aged 71 years and 7 months. He married Elizabeth Stewart Sept. 1873. They had four sons, three having preceded him. His early life was spent on the farm and on leaving the farm he went to Garrett, Ind., where he engaged in railroad work, working up to the position of engineer. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. His companion died Nov. 20, 1910. Since then he has made his home with his sister, Elizabeth Stangland. He united with the M. E. Church of Garrett, more than 30 years ago. He was given every care and attention by his sister, his niece, Jessie, his nephew James and wife. In his departure there remains one son, William of Bureau, Ill,; two brothers, John and Stephen of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; two sisters, Mary Goshaw of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Elizabeth Stangland, Noble County; six grandchildren. Services at Merriam Chapel March 23, 1923. Burial in Chapel Cemetery.
