The funeral for Dewey Edward Brady, 87, of 1262 Frank Whitfield Rd., Hurdle Mills, who died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 at Roxboro Nursing Center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 27, in the Clements Funeral Home chapel in Durham by the Rev. Brooks Gale. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Brady was a native of Durham County, the son of the late George Dewey and Ethel Mae Adams Haswell. His late wife of 65 years was Dorothy Turlington Brady.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.

One of the original owners of Garland Woodcraft, he was a master craftsman in architectural millwork.

He was a former Scoutmaster and a member of the Order of the Arrow.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent and a Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are two sons, Bobby Brady and wife, Sandra, of Hurdle Mills and Jody Brady and wife, Candace, of Durham; two daughters, Betty Veasey and husband, Jimmy, and Brenda Barbee and husband, Ray, all of Durham; a brother, Jimmy Brady of Illinois; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Doug Riley, Rob Brady, Dillon White, Lee Gerling, Marc Veasey and Garland Salmon.

Visitation will be at the funeral home for one hour before the service.
