Ada June Hinton Manning entered rest Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at the age of 84.
Graveside service: 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, in Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society.
She was born June 28, 1923, in Colorado City, the daughter of Leeland Clay Hinton and Dane Charlotte Smith Hinton. She served in the U.S. Navy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) during World War II and worked for the federal government a combined 30-plus years, much of that time as a computer systems analyst for the Navy in Washington, D.C.
After her long career in civil service she moved to San Antonio and for many years operated The Second Edition Book Store with her sister, Mary Joy Hinton Hotchkiss.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; and daughter, Susan Lynne Manning Mutter.
Survivors: Her former husband, Thomas Alex Manning of Frisco City, Ala.; her brother, Leeland Clay Hinton Jr. of Fort Worth; her son, Robert Clayton Manning and wife, Cindy Bell Andrew of Panama City Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Melody Manning, Samantha Manning and Max Mutter; and nieces and nephews.
