April Kirsten McCrain Peters, 28, of the Cloisters in Asheville lost her life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis on August 31, 2001 at UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center following a double lung transplant on July 1.

April was the beloved wife of Timothy Charles Peters. Her parents are Michael and Barbara McCrain. She is also survived by her sisters, Michelle McCrain and Rachel McCrain; grandmothers, Aileen McCrain and Lucia Antoni; Tim's parents, Larry and Trudi Peters and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A native of Buncombe County, April had lived in the Asheville area most of her life. She graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in 1991 and earned an Associates Degree from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. Despite many hours devoted to her health care, April played the piano, loved music and spending time with her husband, family and friends. Before going on disability leave, April worked at the Biltmore branch of Wachovia Bank. April had a wonderful gift of showering people with love and care, putting others before herself. Her faith in God sustained her through her illness.

Burial will follow in Lewis Memorial Park.
