Shirley J. Buschman, 80, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 3, 1942 in White County to the late Sonnie Hubert "Bub" and Dora (Mitchell) Swartz. On October 2, 1960 she married Paul W. Buschman at the St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds. He survives. Shirley was a 1960 graduate Monticello High School and studied at Ivy Tech and Purdue and Indiana Universities where she received her GRI. Shirley was the secretary at Buschman's Service Center and maintained her real estate brokers license and sold and appraised real estate for many realtors in the Monticello community . She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Shirley was queen Mum of the Red Hats "Silly Sisters". She enjoyed quilting, water color, painting, flower gardening and golf. Shirley also enjoyed reading, especially her favorite book Heaven is for Real which had a special meaning to both Shirley and Paul. She loved spending time with her family and grandkids, her most treasured gift. Shirley loved her Lord and was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Paul of Monticello she is survived by her children, Steven (Christy) Buschman of Monticello and Beth Ann (Chuck) Landis of Georgetown; grandchildren, Lindsey Ann (Gilles) Bourret of Austria, Joshua Lee (Shelby) Landis of Georgetown, Tyler Paul (Jessica) Landis of Franklin, Konnor Paul Buschman of Monticello, Keira Ruthann Buschman of Monticello and great grandchildren, Lucie, Oskar, Claire, and Carly; brother, Larry (Sara) Swartz of Lafayette; and sister-in-law, Lorna Swartz of Monticello.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her infant son, Andrew Paul Buschman, brothers, Kenneth and Bill Swartz; and sister-in-law, Mary Swartz. Visitation will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 11:00 until 1:00 pm at the Monticello United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 1pm with Delta Theta Tau immediately followed by the funeral ceremony co-celebrated by Rev. Brain Beeks and Rev. John Westfall.
