She was born Nov. 14, 1928, to Louis and Elizabeth Swehla.
On Oct. 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Bernard Beckel at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin.
Lois loved to spend the winters with her husband, Bernie, in Mesa, Ariz. She was a homemaker, a longtime volunteer at the Philomathian Book Store and she enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Lois found great joy spending time with her children and grandchildren and always looked forward to Memorial Day weekends up north. She enjoyed dining at good restaurants. Everyone will really miss her.
Survivors include her husband: Bernard Beckel, Austin; children: Vicki (Steve) Pierson, Prior Lake; Roger (Betty) Beckel, Brooklyn Park; Judy (Terry) Vogel, Bowling Green, Ky.; Tom Beckel, Minneapolis; Linda (Mitch) Dennison, Austin; Dave (Trudi) Beckel, Austin; 10 grandchildren; sisters: Rosella (A.J.) Svejkovsky, Paynesville; Irene Noterman, Sedona, Ariz.; brother: Ron (Dorothy) Swehla, Prescott, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Elizabeth Swehla.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at St. Edward's Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 7 p.m. wake service on Wednesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and also from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The casket bearers will be Philip Dennison, Michael Dennison, Bradley Beckel, Isaac Beckel, Lance Iverson and John Morrison.
