Funeral services for Mr. John "Bones" William Gains, Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 1999 at Golden's Chapel with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Burial will be at the Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today, Friday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Gaines, 46 died Wed.,Nov. 3. He was an Electrical designer, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving five years and also a member of the La. National Guard. Mr. Gaines was a member of the White Avenue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Eunice Collins of Bastrop and father John William Gaines, Sr. of greenville, Miss., three sons, Don William Gaines of Bastrop, Charles L. Gaines of Seattle, Wash., and Paul Gaines of Alexandria; one sister, Kathy Dunn of Bastrop; three brothers, Jimmy Gaines of Bastrop, Timmy Gaines of Memphis, and Michael Gaines of Greenville, Miss.; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Butch Stephens, Ricky Andrews, Eugene Blackman, Mark Stovell, Gypsy Sheck, and Billy Blackman. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Merrile, Joseph Bradley, Sammy Stephens and Wesley Stephens.
