Military Leader. During the Acre War of the early 1900s, using only a bow and arrow, his actions enabled a Bolivian victory in the battle of Bahía. He set fire to an arrow and with great precision shot it into the enemy's ammunition depot causing it to catch fire. This and the follow-up attack by other indigenous warriors caused the Brazilians to flee and they recovered the town of Cobija for Bolivia. He was posthumously named a National Hero of Bolivia on November 20, 2003, and there are monuments to him throughout the country. After the Acre War, Racua returned to his home and large farm growing plantains, yucca, corn, and coffee. He also had another house that was dedicated to carpentry. According to some sources, he was also a notable explorer of the Bolivian, Brazilian, and Peruvian Amazon, opening the Ixiamas region.
