This is my grandfather (my mothers father), whom I never had the privilege of meeting.

Harry was born to Julius and Nelly (maiden name was Wines). He had two brothers named Frederick and Lester, and a sister named Helen. He is of German descent.

He married my grandmother Mary, who was divorced with 5 children, and together they had a "surprise" child; my mother Helen. He was a kind father, he loved all the children, and helped raise them. Harry & Mary were very happy together.

I was told he served in 2 branches of the military, before he married my grandmother. He joined the Navy at age 16 or 17, and served for 2 years, then was honorably discharged, He then joined the Army, and served for 20 years. He served during WW1.

He traveled all around the world, saw all kinds of things, had lots of adventures, and told lots of interesting stories. Mom said everything he ever told her was the truth and for her own good. He was honest and forthright and was well liked.

Harry passed before my parents married, but gave his blessings; he was very fond of my dad.

Harry passed from emphysema.
