May Sidbury married John Calvin Newsom eloping due to her family looking with disfavor on their age disparity. John was much older. Oddly she called her husband Mr. Newsom, perhaps lovingly. She was a kind, good woman and a loving mother and grandmother who made delicious chocolate cakes. She helped set her youngest son up in business after he returned from WWII forming Newsome's Lumber and Building Supply Company. She was in a nursing home in Riverdale Georgia when she died in 1976 living near her grandson Larry E. Newsome.
