Born May 15, 1928 at Vago, she is a daughter of the late Clarence Edgar and Leota E. Kershner Sites.
Velma was a lifelong resident of Vago, was a retired hairdresser at her shop, the Modern House of Beauty in Lewisburg; was a 1946 graduate of Lewisburg High School, was a graduate of Appalachian Beauty College in Bluefield; was a member of Clifton Presbyterian Church and church Circle at Maxwelton; was a member of the Henning Church of God JOY Group; and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post#69 in Lewisburg.
In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel A. Breackenrich in 2008; a brother, Wilmer Sites; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Brackenrich, Sally "Frances" Brown and Nellie Haynes; and brother -in-law, Laburn Brackenrich.
Those left to cherish her memory are "special friends", Joe Hendricks and wife Catherine of Vago, their children, Joe Hendricks Jr. and wife Valerie of Princeton, WV and Debra Ward of White Sulpher Springs; sister-in-law , Hilda Clendenin of Roanoke, Va, Nadine Brackenrich of Rupert, and Nova Rutherford of New Hope, VA; brother-in-law, George Backenrich of Rupert and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, Jan 4 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home inLewisburg where Rev. Ron Miller officiated. Burial followed in Rosewood Cemetery.
A visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Clifton Presbyterian Church.
