Arnold Lee Byrd, 79, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Carepartners Solace Center.

Arnold was born in McDowell County on July 20, 1943 to the late Harvey Byrd and Carrie Mace Byrd.

He graduated from North Cove High School where he drove a bus for the county. Arnold was a proud US Army Veteran where he served in Vietnam. In his early days, Arnold sang in a quartet. Arnold loved fishing, hunting, pulling gallax and playing Rook with his friends.

Preceding him in death including his parents are his siblings, Willie Byrd, Lilly Byrd, Mary Rose Williams and Ruth Barrier.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Monica Rector; a sister, Bessie Denny; a brother, Jimmy Ray Byrd (Joyce) and three grandchildren, Ashlyn Rector, Tori Rector and Dakota Rector.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Beams Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Mark Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
