William H. Rainbolt was born in Alabama on June 30, 1813. William H Rainbolt married Mary Boyd on November 28, 1834, in Limestone County, Alabama. His name appears in the 1847 Texas Census.
In 1850 W. H. Rainbolt, 35, and his wife Mary, 25 (b. in AL), were living in Nacogdoches County with children Francis, 13 (b. in TN), Walter, 11 (b. in AL), Mary, 9 (b. in MS), Sarah, 4 (b. in MS), and Nancy, 1 (b. in TX). In 1860 the children are listed as Walter S., 21; Sarah A., 14; Mary E., 12; Henry H., 9; and Laura H., 7; Arthur Sherrell, 21, day laborer b. in TN, also is in the household. William H Rainbolt had 50 acres land improved and 224 acres unimproved, with a cash value of $1,644 given for his farm and $130 for his farm equipment. He had 6 horses, 1 mule, 6 milch cows, 1 working oxen, and 9 other cattle; along with 30 sheep; for a total value of $875 in livestock. He raised 300 bushels of Indian corn and 5 bales of cleaned cotton.
Living with William, 57, and Mary, 57, in 1870 was their daughter Sarah, 23.
