According to documents found on the Ancestry website, Thomas died aged 19 at Liverpool Military Hospital of appendicitis. He left his personal effects to his father, Phillip.

He was the son of Phillip Herbert Davies and Sarah Ellen Davies of 36, Salop Street, Wrexham, Wales.
