William Paul Adams, 60 of Ironton, Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg, died April 6, 2000 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Russell, Ky.
He was born Jan. 20, 1940 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Delbert Paul and Geneva Martin Adams. He was a retired guidance counselor and teacher for the South Point High School District. He also taught and coached football in Ohio and West Virginia. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Logan, Ohio, the Lions Club and Rotary Club of Logan and a former member of the Governor's Advisory Council for Disabled Persons. He was one of the founders of the south Parkersburg Godbey Baseball Field.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Frances Brown Adams; three daughters and son-in-laws, Crystal Lynn and David Gwynn of Parkersburg, Denise Ann and Michael Rowley of Columbus, OH, and Tami Sue and Rob Richmond of Palmyra, Va.; one son William Craig and Shelley Adams of Maumelle, AR.; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Brandi and Jason Gwynn, Heather, Benjamin, Ashley Rowley, and Jeremy and Sean Adams; and a very special mother and father-in-law, Forrest and Claudine Brown of Rockport.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, the Rev. Nathan Williams officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery South. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Saturday evening at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, Ironton, Ohio and from 6-9 p.m. Sunday evening at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, WV.
Memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Association or the National Spinal Cord Association.
