Died at 9:05 p.m. Friday, March 24, 1978, in Los Angeles, Calif., after a long illness. He was 49, a native of Green[e] County, Miss., a former resident of Baton Rouge and a resident of Los Angeles.

Religious services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, conducted by the Rev. Don Thomas. Burial in Roselawn [sic Roseland] Cemetery, Gloster.

Survived by one sister, Mrs. Helen S. McCurley, Baker; three brothers, Paul Simpkins, Montgomery, Ala., Reed Simpkins, Arcadia, and Floyd Simpkins Jr., St. Francisville.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Simpkins.
