GLOSTER -- Melvin Floyd Ratzlaff Sr., 67, of Gloster, died Nov. 3, 1992, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville after a lengthy illness.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Gloster United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Crosby officiating. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, with Brown Funeral Home of Gloster in charge of arrangements.

The grandson of Russian immigrants, Mr. Ratzlaff was born May 7, 1925, in Hutchinson, Kan. He was the son of the late Aaron Ratzlaff and Susanne Friesen.

He was a World War II veteran, having been stationed at Camp Van Dorn and served on the front lines. He retired from Georgia-Pacific after 10 years. He was an active member of the Gloster United Methodist Church, serving as a trustee and a member of the United Methodist Men.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, old and young alike, he is survived by his wife, Doris Ervin Ratzlaff of Gloster; one son, Melvin F. Ratzlaff Jr. of Gloster; three daughters, Debbie Mulkey and Pam Stokes, both of Gloster, and Mary Anne Norton of Okeechobee, Fla.; two brothers, Don Ratzlaff of Missouri and Wes Ratzlaff of Alabama; six grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

He also was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lorena.
